NYU Langone Urology Associates - Long Island

Patient-Centered Decision-Making for Management of Small Renal Tumors

Eligibility: Patients to the practice undergoing an initial treatment planning visit with the urologists

Study Participation (about 40 min total):

 Provide consent for participation.

 Examine a decision aid for patients about kidney masses and answer a questionnaire to give feedback.

 Answer a questionnaire for 5-10 minutes after your visit with the doctor

The objective of this study is to understand how patients make decisions about treating their kidney masses, and to identify key values and preferences for treating their kidney masses. We will develop a decision aid (DA) using the decision-analytic model to communicate personalized benefit/harm estimates to patients and promote patient-centered treatment of renal tumors.
